Dr. Edna A. Foster was born in Hinesville, Ga and is the oldest of 10 children born to the late Harry O. Baker, Sr., and the late Mattie C. Baker. She was raised in East Orange, N.J., where she attended the East Orange Public School system.
She attended Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey) where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health and Physical Education. She taught in the East Orange and Newark Public Schools until she retired in 2003. She later received a Master Degree in Theology and a Doctorate in Religious Education from Lighthouse Christian College.
She was married to the late John J. Foster. From this union 2 sons were born, Damon J. and Jamal K. Foster. She has 6 grandchildren: Nasir, Nyasia, Diamond, Shekinah (deceased), Trinity and Amias.
Dr. Foster attends New Reid Temple COGIC where Bishop William T. Cahoon is her pastor and Jurisdictional Prelate.
She has served in many capacities in the church as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, District Youth President, Women’s Department Workshop Leader and Young Women’s Council President. She is now President of the New Garden State Department of Evangelism.
Dr. Foster’s passion for teaching and souls is evident in the ministry of “reaching the lost at any cost.” Her signature scripture is Romans 8:28 ” And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
