Forgiveness by Elissa Gabrielle

Elissa Gabrielle Cats

FORGIVENESS is me giving up my right to hurt you because you hurt me. I don’t forgive people because I’m weak, I forgive them because I’m strong.

For me, forgiving doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten. I’ve learned to forgive those who’ve offended me, not for them, but for me; my forgiveness doesn’t change the past, but it will my future.

I cannot grow and learn and evolve and become a better person if I am unwilling to forgive. I am a sinner saved by grace and where would I be if God didn’t forgive me?

I have no choice but to offer mercy.

Ask yourself this question: “Do I love myself?” If the answer is “Yes,” then you owe it yourself to forgive because you will once again find a peace that will surpass all understanding when you release the burden.

In traveling light, I simply have no energy to carry how a person wronged me any further.

Love yourself enough to find the courage to forgive and experience the victory that comes with extending to others what God gives us freely, even when we don’t deserve it.

Love & Light,

Elissa Gabrielle

Why Wait? by Sharel E. Gordon-Love

Why Wait?

We have known all of our lives that there are things that we have to wait for no matter what. We are even familiar with the cliché, “good things come to those who wait,” but how many of us actually believe this? If you are anything like me, when there is something I want or need, I immediately begin to map out how to go about taking care of it. However, I try my best to constantly remind myself that before I begin ‘my plans,’ I need to seek God for His plans.

Just recently in my Bible studies, I read about King Saul and how he disobeyed God because he felt compelled to take matters into his own hands. I found myself out and out laughing at the excuses King Saul gave Samuel as to why he had gone ahead of what he was commanded to do, and that was to simply wait. But then something happened that I could not deny…I saw myself!

How many times have we all been guilty of not waiting on the God after I sought Him for direction for my life? Wait…that seems to be the hardest thing to do ever, but we are admonished in God’s Word to do just that. King Saul allowed me to see that there has been times in my life that becoming anxious, worried, and impatient to the point I actually felt like God should move right when I asked Him. After all, I believed when I asked. The nerve of me! Needless to say, I asked God to forgive me for every time I had the audacity to think, much less go ahead of Him to fix what only He can had I only waited.

King Saul’s disobedience teaches us that we can forfeit our blessings from God. We do not know what God is doing behind the scenes for us to receive what He has for us. That is why we wait on Him because He knows what He is doing on our behalf. While we wait, we find that God will not leave us without assurance in His Word that if we wait on Him, our strength will be renewed. Each morning we wake up, His mercies are renewed, so then we have what we need for every day. Granted, there are times that we find ourselves in a place that, as David expressed in Psalm 27:13, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” In the meantime, we continue to wait for God’s plan for our lives to unfold before us so that we can walk in His perfect will.
